. . . . .
How much does a pirate pay for corn?
A BUCCANEER.
. . . . .
I apologize to my British readers because this is an American money joke. Let me explain. We sometimes call dollars “bucks.” So, how much does a pirate pay for corn? A buck an ear. [Of corn, I mean.] So one dollar per ear of corn. And a buccaneer is a type of pirate, so you see the relation now, I’m sure. Though you probably knew that because the movies tell me that lots of pirates [buccaneers?] have British accents. So while you may not use American money, my British friend, you may be related to a pirate.
Mondays are for dissecting jokes and making assumptions. Amen.
